Advisory "Working" Committee (Multiple Openings)
The Need:
TMC's constituent base has over quadrupled in just 3 years. With over 150 Massachusetts secondary school constituents, TMC must make the transition from a Founding Board, increase staff headcount, and upgrade internal operations and infrastructure. Recognizing it will soon need a professional governing Board of Directors, TMC is easing into this transition by first establishing a qualified Advisory "Working" Committee.
The Advisory "Working" Committee is being formed to assist the founding Executive Director in developing the organization and fiduciary board, which will allow TMC to more quickly achieve its mission. The Executive Director seeks 8-10 advisors experienced in youth development and programming, secondary education curriculum development, public relations and marketing, grants writing and fundraising, general nonprofit management and nonprofit governance. Ideal candidates will advise and mentor the current board and staff, engage in fundraising efforts, support strategic planning, and serve as public ambassadors for the organization. Members will be essential contributors, committed to enabling TMC to achieve its mission, realize its potential, and fulfill its obligations to supporters and partners.
TMC is looking for individuals that exemplify any of the below qualifications:
- Successfully growing a business from start-up
- Familiarity with funding growth
- Prior board experience (corporate, advisory or nonprofit board)
- Secondary education and/or curriculum development skills
- Public relations and marketing know-how
- Fundraising, sales, and/or grant writing skill
- Publishing and/or digital media expertise
- Management and operations experience
- Community leadership
- Writers/journalists
- Working artists
The Advisory "Working" Committee Statement of Roles and Responsibilities:
- The Advisory "Working" Committee will be comprised of 8-10 members, which includes the Executive Director.
- Meetings will be held quarterly on the first Thursday of the first month of the quarter and are expected to be 3 hours in length. A light meal will be served.
- Advisors unable to join the meeting in person will be able to join via a conference bridge line. Advisors are encouraged to make their best effort to join in person.
- Conference calls may be required from time to time.
- Materials will be sent to advisors for review prior to each meeting.
- The intent is for interested Advisory "Working" Committee members to eventually join the Board of Directors.
Please submit a resume (limit 2 pages), bio and a letter explaining why you are interested and how you believe you can assist the organization to themarblecollection@gmail.com. All information will be reviewed and appropriate candidates contacted. Initial contact will be a telephone call with the Founder. If both TMC and the candidate wish to move forward the candidate will be invited to meet with the Founder and a few members of the current board of directors. The first meeting of the Advisory Committee is expected to be January or February 2012.
